Department of Organic Chemistry focuses its concern on synthesis, structure and properties of different organic compounds (see Research).

The Department carries on different courses of general and advanced organic chemistry for B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, courses on structure and reactivity, stereochemistry, quantum organic chemistry, chemistry of natural products, physico-chemical methods, nuclear chemistry and chemistry of labelled organic compounds and their application in chemistry and biology.

The Department is equiped to measure elemental chemical analysis, IR, UV, NMR and mass (GC-MS) spectra, optical rotation, dipole moment, radioactivity and radioactive contamination. For the separation of the compounds, many chromatographical methods are used (TLC, column, GC, HPLC etc.).

The Department is one of the sponsors of a CHROMuLAN project - free software for acquisition and evaluation of data from laboratory devices.
