Research

Research activities of the Department are divided into several topics:

  • The study of synthesis, structure and reactivity of amino-, halogeno- and sulphur derivatives of mono- and oligosaccharides, mainly as potentionally biological active compounds. Contact: Dr. Trnka
  • Synthesis of cyclodextrin derivatives and their use for analytical separation methods (CE, HPLC), as carriers of photodynamic sensitizers, for preparation of chemosenzors. Contact: Dr. Jindrich
  • Utilization of cyclotrimerization of alkynes for preparatin of biaryl compounds and their application as ligand for transition metals, organocatalysts (arylpyridines) and biologicaly active compounds (arylpurines). Development of new catalytic transformations of alkenes and alkynes, which comprise both formation of new C-C bonds (carbometalation, cyclization), and their cleavage (deallylalation, metathesis). Development of modular synthesis of isoprenoid compounds based on usage of of one method (diterpenes, steroids).

  • Quantum chemistry studies: Behaviour of the molecule in electromagnetic field, its polarizability and optical rotation calculations. The coefficient of molecular similarity and its application in chemistry and biology. Contact: Dr. Pecka
  • Synthesis and biosynthesis of isotopically labelled organic compounds (e.g. with isotopic carbon, hydrogene, sulphur, iodine), their application in chemical, pharmaco- logical and biological studies. Contact: Dr. Leseticky
  • Study of cytotoxicity and reactivity of natural triterpenoids. Contact: Mgr. Šarek
